Nurse Practitioners
The Advanced Practitioners are able to see patients over the age of five and can prescribe a range of drugs. The Advanced Practitioners have appointments to deal with minor illnesses and are available Mondays to Friday by appointment.

Jane joined the practice June 2021 as Advanced Nurse Practitioner. In 2023 Jane joined the practice partnership. This role involves the leadership and strategic development of the practice.

Nurses
Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.
Healthcare Assistants
Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
Practice Management
The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Administration
Our Administrators provide the "Back office" service. They are responsible for prescribing, disease register monitoring, reviewing correspondences, in addition to a wide variety of administrative tasks.
Care Coordinators
Care Coordinators at Saltscar are responsible for the Secretarial workload within the practice, which includes referrals from the GP to other services. The majority of their work plan is to be part of the Primary Care Network (PCN) Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) who are responsible for managing the care of people registered with practices within a particular PCN. This will involve coordinating the work of healthcare professionals and non-clinical staff including volunteers involved in the care of patients registered at GP practices within the wider PCN population.
